Pescadero TourJuly 25, 2010by Tod Fitch, The Last to arrive at the meeting point was the intrepid tour leader. Note to self, don’t get side tracked on computer issues before setting out to a car event. Waiting in Menlo Park were Rob and Kim Hunt (1937 P4 coupe), Bob Semichy (1937 P4 two door sedan), Bob Von Konsky (1941 Convertible), Harold and Denise Rafter (1946 P15 four door sedan) and Kim’s parents (1931 Model A Ford coupe). The group was given driving instructions. Rob Hunt immediately memorized all the odd numbered rules. And everyone was given a choice between an easy route and a hard route. Many groups would choose easy, but we are Plymouth people, so the maps and instructions for the harder narrow, steep and twisty back road were passed out. Up Kings Mountain Road which quickly narrowed to about one and a quarter lanes wide. Fortunately on both this road and the other narrow back roads the automobile traffic was light. We did have to deal with some very athletic bicyclists. Most of them were on the bay side of the mountains but there were some all the way down Tunitas Creek Road to the ocean. After a nice lunch at Duarte’s, buying award winning goat cheese at Harley Farms and making a quick stop at Phipps to check out the berry harvest we headed home. Having slightly different home destinations we started having people peel off at various points: Harold and Denise taking highway 84, the two Bobs heading south on highway 35 while the rest headed north on 35 then back to Woodside. Seems like all participants enjoyed the tour. Video at 10:00. Or maybe on YouTube.
