Golden State Region Annual Meeting - September 2009October 13, 2009by Nick Desimone, Golden State Region Annual Meeting – September 19, 2009 - Pismo Beach - Central Area Mike Senzamici and Robin Sager were the hosts for our annual meeting. They made the trip from Santa Barbara to Pismo Beach several times to check out the area and finalize preparation for the meeting. Other than Pismo Beach being a great area to spend a weekend, Mike and Robin did themselves proud by setting up a Treasure Hunt Road Rally, keeping it simple for us that are challenged. For those of us that arrived in Pismo Beach on Friday, we spent the evening enjoying a rendition of Rip Van Winkle at the Great American Melodrama & Vaudeville in Oceano. While the play was purported to be the center of attraction, our Plymouths really stole the show. The Treasure Hunt began in Avilla Beach at the pier and wound its way for approximately 12 miles around Pismo Beach and Oceano. The final stop was at the Rock & Roll Diner in Oceano, which consists of two railroad dining cars, where we held our meeting and awarded Treasure Hunt prizes. 9th place – Larry LaBrack & Iris-Ann DeCelles, 8th place – David Maxwell, 7th place – Richard & Martha Bowman, 6th place – Patrick & Eve Coady, 5th place – Kent, Sheila & Nicholas Garland, 3rd place – Darrell & Zack Harris, 2nd place – Roger & Donna Chrislip, 1st place – Nick & Char DeSimone Members in attendance were: Patrick & Eve Coady, Tod Fitch, Bob Semichy, David Maxwell. Larry LaBrack & Iris-Ann DeCelles, Kent, Sheila and Nick Garland, Bob & Margie Amos, Darrell & Zack Harris, Mike Senzamici & Robin Sager, Roger & Donna Chrislip, Richard & Martha Bowman, Nick & Char DeSimone, Bruce Lofgren and Paul Wilson. Margie Amos read the Treasurer’s report which was accepted by the members. We are accepting applications from teachers and organizations whereas we would award a $250.00 scholarship to a high school graduate who plans to continue their education in the automotive field. The Golden State Region is also sponsoring a family from the Orangewood Children’s Home for Christmas. There is a published list of suggested items needed which members can donate. Items can be brought to the Christmas Party in December or call me on my cell (714) 864-0658 to arrange a pick-up. The monthly meeting is usually scheduled for the 3rd Saturday of the month at 10:00 AM or 11:00 AM and usually includes an activity of general interest to the membership. It was suggested that we consider changing the date and time, on occasion, as well as plan longer activities such as a day or day and a half trip with our Plymouths. We will take this under consideration as we make our plans for 2010. Another item on the agenda was whether we, as a region, should consider applying for another National Meet. The item was tabled for further discussion by the membership before any further action is taken. Tod Fitch asked if there were any members present who wished to caravan to the Cascade Region National Meet in June 2010. Tod suggested we meet in the Bay Area and caravan from there. Members who expressed a desire to make the trip are: Bob Semichy, Tod Fitch, Larry LaBrack and Nick DeSimone. There were several National members who traveled long distances to attend our meeting and we pledged to plan more outings throughout the Northern, Central and Southern areas so National and Regional members from distant areas can join us in future events.
